Corals

550-0 million years old

Coral, as we known them today, consists of only a few millimeters creatures. They first appeared in the Cambrian period about 550 million years ago. Initially, they were not widespread only about 100 million years ago. In the geological record, corals have a large diversity and can be used to derived an environment. The occurrence of the coral porites, for example, suggest a very high saline environment. Other corals may indicate a freshwater environment. In our fossil shop, we sell fossil corals from both the USA and Morroco.
