Edmontosaurus Fossils

77-63 million years old

The Edmontosaurus dinosaurs lived between 77 and 63 million years ago in an age called the Cretaceous. It was discovered in Alberta (USA) and was named after the capitol of that state and it is estimated that this dinosaur had a length between 12 and 15 meters and a weight of around 9000 kg. The distribution of the fossils suggest that this dinosaur lived throughout the USA but preferred coastal plains and lived in groups. In contrast to many other fossil dinosaurs, not only bones were found of the Edmontosaurus but also imprints of its skin and possible gut contents.
