Echinoderms

500 - 0 million years old

The first echinoderms appeared in the Cambrian period about 500 million years ago. In our fossil and mineral web shop, we sell a variety of echinoderms like crinoids and sea urchins. Crinoids look like sea lilies (plant) but are actually marine animals, They lived both in shallow water and in depths as great as 6000 meters and they first appeared about 485 million years ago and are still alive. The crinoid stems we sell are 330 million years old (Carboniferous/Mississippian) and were found in the USA and others in Morocco. Sea urchins have arisen around the Ordovician period, about 450 million years ago, and like the crinoids are still alive today. The sea urchins we sell come from different location around the world.
