Goniatites

Goniatites

Fossil Goniatite

410–206 million years old

Goniatites are an extinct group of ammonite related to the nautiloids. They lived early in the Devonian period 400 million years ago and became extinct during the Permian period about 250 million years ago. Like ammonites, goniatites are classified as ammonoids and can be compared to the present-day Nautilus. Although the Goniatites sold in our fossil and mineral shop are from around the world, most of them have been found in Morocco.
