About 13.9 billion years ago, the universe where we live in came into existence. Much, much later, our solar system formed including the blue-brownish planet we live on the earth. It formed like all the other planets in our solar system about 4.54 billion years ago due to the accretion of the solar nebula. During the few billion years the earth was bombardment by other (planetary) bodies. One of these bodies was almost the same size as the earth and its collision with our earth resulted in the moon and the extinction of the dinosaurs! Even today, the earth is still bombarded by, for example, meteorites. Here we sell both the impactor (meteor) and the result of the impact like shock quartz and tektite.
