Tektite fragments

0.7 million years old

For a long time it was unclear how tektites were created. Today, scientists believe that tektite are solidified fragments of terrestrial rocks that melt after an impact of a meteorite and are thrown away and then fall back on Earth. During the fall, the pieces solidify into a glassy mass. Tektite is one of the driest rocks on earth, it contains only 0.005% water. The technical excerpts that we sell here are around 0.7 million years old. The crater of the meteorite responsible for this technique has not yet been found.
