Dinosaur Poo

More than 65 million years old

This ordinary looking piece of stone is actually petrified poo of a dinosaur! The slightly cleaner but also more difficult name for this is dino coprolite. Much can be learned from dino coprolite by scientists. In a polished cross section of dino shit, paleontologists (scientist examining dinosaur and other animals / fossils) often see undigested bits of bone and plants. As a result, paleontologists know what dinosaurs used to eat and, in some cases, other animals that used to live and have been eaten.
