Belemnites are an extinct group of squids that lived between the Devonian (416 Ma) and the Cretaceous (65.5 Ma). It has long been a mystery what they looked like. This is because often only the back part, the so-called rostrum, was found. It is only after the discovery of some very beautifully preserved belemnites that scientists know that they looked a lot like the current squids. In our webshop you will find cleaned rostrums. These have been found in England on the Jurassic Coast.
